UPBEAT. CHALLENGING. MOTIVATING.
Why do you practice barre?
As a life-long athlete, I’ve tried it all, and Barre challenges me like no other workout. It improves balance, flexibility and creates lean strength in those hard-to-target muscles throughout the entire body. I’m continually amazed at how those seemingly tiny isometric movements have such a huge impact! Barre is a fantastic workout both on its own and as a complement to other fitness regimens.
Where did your barre practice begin?
I stumbled upon barre a few years ago. I had no idea what I was getting myself into! I couldn’t believe how much I could be challenged using only my body and light weights.
Why did you want to become a barre teacher?
At first, I did not believe barre was for me. I’ve always been drawn to traditionally “high-intensity” workouts and did not have what one would call a typical “dancer’s” physique. As I’ve continued my practice throughout the past years my mindset and body have changed for the better. Barre has become an integral part of my workouts and I want to share this journey and my barre love with others.
What do you love about Hartford Sweat?
Hartford Sweat offers an incredible cross-section of workouts. There truly is something for everyone. The energy of the studio and my fellow teachers is inspiring and contagious. And it’s right in the heart of the state I love!
Your favorite barre move and why?
This changes day to day! I really enjoy moves that engage as much of the body as possible such as second position plié with alternating heel lift- it works your thighs, calves, core and challenges your balance all in one move!
