What can a student expect from your class?
My classes are both challenging and supportive, offering a balance between ease and effort. Working hard and embracing friction is key to growth, but sometimes that transformation occurs by letting go of unrelenting struggle. Expect to flow and sweat with lots of hands-on adjustments and music, and there will be modifications appropriate for all levels.
What do you love about Hartford Sweat?
First and foremost, the people – people make a studio and a community, and we have some truly amazing people. I also love how Hartford Sweat embraces different yogic traditions and other workouts by housing them all under one roof. I don’t think there is one perfect way to practice yoga, and it’s brilliant to acknowledge this by offering so many different choices, which encourages all of us to try something new.
Your favorite yoga posture and why?
I love classical sun salutations, or Surya Namaskar A. The flow allows me to relax and find peace in linking movement with breath. It’s awe-inspiring how many yogis have flowed through the exact same sequence for possibly thousands of years.
